Have always loved these, but not the stink, leaks and lack of power. So this became the first ICON Electric Vehicle project. Featuring simple and robust EV systems that provide 100+ miles range and 210 pounds of torque, a Thing has never had it so good! Subtle modifications compliment all original paint. This vehicle makes everyone smile, especially the owner!

We just had to keep the vintage Hurst shifter in place!
We designed the instrumentation to still appear stock, but to reflect all of the modern EV data required.
Complex EV pedestrian warning system...
The stock seats were not very comfortable, so we crafted these to keep it looking vintage, then covered them in high quality leather.
Restyled the rear seat to match...
Despite the hi-tech content, we tried to relate it to the original design. So, for example, the original air intake louvers inspired us for the cooling fan intakes for the EV systems.
And here you see them!
Here is the frunk before...
Here is the frunk after! The box houses most of the batteries, in a crash reinforced structure. Main power kill switch, powder coat finish.
Here is the engine bay before...
Here is the engine bay after!
We restored and added the hard top, at our clients' request.
The charge port conveniently fit in an old hole in the rear bumper.
Instead of the stock gasoline (seriously) powered heater, we fit a high-output electric heater. A four speaker Bluetooth-dependent audio system helps drown out the old remaining VW rattles.
ICON Sport Pedals enhanced traction.
Cupholder and vintage marine inspired wooden floor grids over polyurea protected floors.
